Round 3 (#74): Tim Anderson, DT, Ohio State

Draft King Analysis

Buffalo had to be distraught when WR Reggie Williams went at #9 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. That forced the Bills to choose between a number of similarly ranked WRs... and they went with Evans. People who wrote me about Evans seemed to be overwhelmingly sympathetic toward him and his abilities, but I think even Evans defenders would admit that the #13 spot was far too high to take him. Especially with the Bills contemplating (and ultimating acting on) the idea of trading up to #22 to take J.P. Losman, they would've been much better served trading down from #13 to get at least another top four round pick out of the draft.

Credit the Bills with filling their two biggest needs (WR and development QB), but while Tim Anderson in round three will help the defensive line, this draft did nothing to help them at the defensive end position, which is another position I thought they'd target.
