Draft King Analysis

D.J. Williams was a great pickup for the Broncos, no question. Though, I must admit I was shocked when they took him and not Steven Jackson at the #16 spot. But that's always been the Broncos style, going for a RB in Round 2 or later.

As for Tatum Bell, obviously the Broncos see something special in him, but I disagree both with that selection and with the pick of Watts at #54. I like Watts, but at #54 I felt he was a reach for them.

It's intriguing how the Broncos took two 7th round QBs (Mauck and Van Pelt)... I figure they hope that one of them will pan out to be their QB of the future. Mauck certainly has the championship experience, while Van Pelt is himself very skilled (though underexposed media-wise playing at Colorado State). Overall, while Williams will be a great boost for the Broncos on defense, their draft strategy is not one that I would've employed had I been in their situation.
