Subject: Courtney Roby

This WR looks great, I've been watching him and he as all the tools you look for. I talked to Scott Pioli on Cn8 sports and this is what he manily said.

Scott Pioli (on Courtney Roby)
"He is amazing, he has great talent, If he would get bigger he would be a great great player."

Scott Pioli (on drafting him)
"We have a lot of good WR's but If he shows us somthing in workouts it could be a possiblty, but anything can happen."

Lou: Maybe Mr. Roby needs to spend a little time with David Boston, if you know what I mean... In all seriousness, while Roby isn't a big guy, he doesn't have to be to become a role player in the NFL. He's 6'0" and runs a reported 4.38 40. 40 numbers can be misleading sometimes, but Roby ran track at Indiana and has legit fast speed.

Roby does need to hit the weights between now and the combine. If he can stay healthy and keep that speed, some team will take a chance on him (maybe in the 4th/5th round?) He has good hands, which when combined with that speed will help him likely make a team somewhere. And his ability as a playmaker only enhances his odds of making a splash with whichever team acquires him.

Subject : Free agents

Hi, Lou,
Do you know if where I can find a list of 2005 NFL free agents? I am a Dolphin fan and planning for next year. I hope you are well.
Thanks,
George

Lou: A free agent list... hmm, that is actually tougher to find than you might expect. The easiest place I can think of, believe it or not, is Madden 2005. If anyone knows of a good site with free agents to-be listed, please let me know.

With the Dolphins, the free agent that team should go all-in for (in my opinion) is Seahawks RB Shawn Alexander. Along with Alexander, Seattle has QB Matt Hasselbeck and perennial franchise designee OT Walter Jones all eligible for free agency. The Seahawks tried hard to sign Hasselbeck, but he wants to test the free agent waters. Alexander might slip through the cracks, particularly with Seattle having tied up so much money on DE Grant Winstrom last off-season, and Miami could be just the team to land Alexander.

Subject: Is Lance Mitchell a definite 1st round pick?

Lance is a greaat player, loves contact good speed. does all that add up so a 1st round pick. Please give me your thoughts thanks.

Lou: Mitchell (Inside LB from Oklahoma) is not going to be a first round pick in large part due to the ACL tear that he suffered early in the 2003 season. Also, Mitchell's ability to play the pass on the pro level is questionable.

With that said, Mitchell is great against the run and has the motor to run down players (even against tough blockers), which is a very nice plus from a middle LB. Best-case for Mitchell, I see his knee checking out great at the combine and him going in the 2nd or 3rd round to a team (like St. Louis) which really needs help at middle LB. Mitchell would be helped by Florida ILB Channing Crowder deciding to return to UF for his senior season (right now he's "undecided", but with Ron Zook fired I bet Crowder is headed to the NFL.)
