Bodes well for the Pats if they think Jackson or Jones are the one.

Lou: You'd have to think so... The only trouble in that situation might come if some team lusts after Kellen Winslow or Mike Williams and trades this year's first rounder and extra (maybe next year's, too) to slide up and snag the player they desire. The Lions shift down, grab Jackson, and suddenly the script is flipped.

Of course, it's not as if Steven Jackson and Kevin Jones are the only two good RBs in the draft. With four picks in the first two rounds, it's not as if New England couldn't go RB in round number two with the talent that will be there (and worthy of selection in that round).

First, I love your insights, I think they're very good. I also like the layout of your site.

However, as a Sooner fan, I am really TICKED ;-) that you thought Roy Williams, the draftable WR, played for OU. He's a stinkin' Longhorn (the team that keeps LOSING the Red River Showdown!!)!! The REAL Roy Williams (a S who has already been drafted by the Cowboys) smacked down the imitation last year (as OU stomped Texas).

Lou: (Hanging my head in shame) I can't believe I did that. How embarrassing. That'd be like me as a University of Tennessee fan putting "Peyton Manning, QB, Florida" on the board. At least I do have the double Roy Williams thing to use as an excuse, albeit a weak one. Yes, Roy Williams, WR, Texas.

While I'm on the topic, I've had Roy Williams paired up with the Atlanta Falcons for awhile now. It makes perfect sense. Atlanta (bad luck with the coin flip) gets Roy Williams (bad luck with the Clarett ruling letting Mike Williams into the draft). Peerless Price gets to show the rookie WR a few things... oh and don't forget the thrilling QB in the backfield there for Atlanta, Michael Vick.

But a small part of me thinks that the Falcons will screw it up. I should trust Rich McKay -- he is a smart GM. What the Falcons did in past draft happened before McKay was there. But who in Atlanta can forget two years ago when everyone thought that the Falcons were going to take Hawaii WR Ashley Lelie (after trading down with Oakland, which looked brilliant with Lelie sitting right there on the board at #18)... and then the Falcons took T.J. Duckett. Which is fine and all, except that the Falcons had overpaid for Bucs RB Warrick Dunn that past off-season. The move made no sense then, and it makes no sense two years in hindsight.
