Lou... I'm confused. Why would Dallas take Henson with their #1, when they can get him from Houston for a 3 and keep their 1? Am I missing something?

Lou: No, you didn't miss anything Richard... I just made the mistake of believing that Drew Henson might actually want to be paid a first round NFL calibre contract. Though, if it were about money, perhaps he wouldn't have walked away from his guaranteed deal with the New York Yankees in the first place (he left seven figures on the table when he quit baseball.) Regardless, I'll say it: I was wrong. I figured there was no way Henson would go for this. I didn't realize the value he placed on picking what team he'd end up playing for in 2004.

I'll say this: Dallas got a steal getting Henson for just a third round pick. An absolute steal. The Carter/Hutchinson/Henson battle in training camp will be interesting.

I’m guessing this is just an oversight, but, I don’t see Steven Jackson in your latest mock draft! Surely you don’t think he will slip to the second round. I don’t think he makes it out of the top 20, with the Patriots or possibly the Cowboys moving up to get him. At worst, he and Kevin Jones go 21 and 22. The signings of Duce Staley, Charlie Garner and Thomas Jones have made things very interesting for the running backs, though.

Lou: Yes, that was an oversight. But if Jackson is there for the Cowboys (as I project as of this writing) at Pick #22, that combined with landing Henson for a third rounder will render the 2004 Draft as successful for Dallas, regardless of what happens beyond the first round.
