you forgot one huge name that will probabaly declare himself eligible as a junior, and top all the QB's available on the board:

Aaron Rogers, QB, California

Lou: I didn't forget Rogers... But it's going to be a competitive field at QB this year. Buffalo might've been better off holding onto its 2005 first round pick and trying to snag a QB from the 2005 crop instead of paying the price to move up and snag J.P. Losman in the 2004 Draft. Time will tell on that one. But bottom line, there are 8-10 QBs who could potentially break out and become first round quality prospects in 2005.

Were you able to figure out why Randy Starks dropped so far? I was hopping the niners would pick him at the bottom of the first round.

How do you like their draft?

Lou: Randy Starks was seen by too many teams as a potential bust. While physically gifted in many ways, he's still awfully raw and young (remember, he came out a year early). If you want to break it down to a more specific level, some GMs were concerned that Starks' run stopping was not up to snuff (at least for a 1st or 2nd rounder). I think Tennessee got a major steal in Starks at #71. Consider this: Starks can squat 765 pounds.

As for the 49ers draft, I went through it on the 2004 San Francisco team page. I like Rashaun Woods and Justin Smiley -- both are excellent players. Shawntae Spencer will probably face the fire much faster than other CBs taken near him, based on the lack of CB depth for the 49ers.

With that said, the 49ers face some very tough challenges next season. If you can't win with Garcia-to-Owens... can you do it with their replacements in 2004?
