I was just wondering what your thoughts are one what the Houston Texans draft strategy will be. I think we can all agree there is a pretty darn good chance they’ll end up with the #1 overall pick, they’re awful. You have them taking Reggie Bush with that pick and I know the boys a stud but can you honestly see that happening when they have so many holes? There will be a lot of demand for him and I feel many teams would love to trade up there to get a crack at Reggie or Matt Leinart. Also these guys need some blocking bad, I could see them trading down a bit and getting a stud offensive tackle and a heap of extra picks. Also what about them grabbing Reggie in the first spot and then pulling a crazy swap with someone a little lower just like the Chargers did? Just wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks

Lou: A draft-and-trade scenario is not outside the realm of possibility, but as always, it takes two to trade. The primary question in the evaluation process should be: what is the value of Reggie Bush relative to the value of whatever the Texans could get in trading that pick? If the Texans could slide down a spot, land OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, and acquire additional multiple picks... is it worth it? Reggie Bush is seen by many as a very, VERY special player, which would seem to make that #1 pick more of a premium than usual.

If the #1 selection is going to be a pick-and-trade, it would mean the Texans (if they have the #1 pick) would be banking on someone like, say, D'Brickashaw Ferguson falling a few spots, then making a trade at that point (with the idea being that they'd keep Reggie Bush if Ferguson was to go before then.) Risky? You bet. But when you go into that scenario, there's always going to be risk involved.

Subject: T.B. picking OL

i agree the Bucs need OL help like Marcus McNeill, help but i just hate for it to be a first round pick......I was hoping we'd pick a DE like Elvis Dumervil, S like Darnell Bing/Michael Huff, LB like Ahmed Brooks/Ernie Sims, or even a WR since Galloway and Hilliard are getting old like Martin Nance/Chad Jackson. I guess if I am going to sit there watching and waiting for my team to draft someone, i dont want to want 2-3hrs. for a OL in the first round. what do you think?

Lou: If the Bucs are going to use their first round pick on offense, OT makes the most sense. I know that offensive tackle isn't the most exciting position, but the offensive line is an important thing for the team to maintain. Moreover, Kenyatta Walker is eligible for free agency after this season, and with his up-and-down tenure with the Buccaneers, it is possible that he won't return next season.

I could see the Bucs looking at a Bing/Huff type player, as a boost at safety would be nice. Thanks to Barrett Ruud's play at MLB, the Bucs are set in that area, in my estimation. An OLB like Ernie Sims is possible, though. As for WR, I thought the Bucs were actually overloaded at the position this pre-season. The best player on the Bucs who no one knows about is WR Paris Warren, a rookie from Utah who made the team but then was cut and put on the practice squad. The Bucs are stacked at WR; I would suggest that the last thing they'd need would be a WR.
