Subject: Bucs

Could the Bucs Take a (RB,QB,WR)
what order would you put it at?
RB QB WR is my order they need

and would you say that If the Bucs and Bears both pick the same Position that it would effect the early part of the draft

Lou: There are two ways to look at this: what the Bucs need from a purely personnel standpoint, and what the Bucs need from a Jon Gruden team perspective. Because Gruden has never been one to go with a single RB to handle the bulk of his carries, I think that the RB taken by the Bucs will not be used to his full potential. For those of you who play fantasy football, keep this in mind. I could very easily see the Bucs taking Cadillac Williams, and then forcing him to split time with Michael Pittman. Is that the smart thing to do? Not in my mind. But Gruden has a Super Bowl ring and I don't, so I'll not be second-guessing him.

I'd rank the order of needs at: WR, RB, QB. I see QB as a non-need, but you mentioned it so I had to include it. But if the Bucs can land WR Mike Williams in round one, then come back and get RB Ciatric Fason in round two... that would be fantastic for Tampa Bay fans. Living in Tampa I have the edge in hearing what Bucs fans want to happen, and when I mention this particular scenario to them they tend to get pretty excited. Tampa Bay would be wise to add some o-line depth in later rounds, and maybe go with a CB in round three, but really a draft with M. Williams and Fason would be a winner based off of those two picks alone, at least in my estimation. I know Tampa landed Michael Clayton last year, but the team needs good young WRs. Clayton + M. Williams would equal excitement for Bucs fans. It might not help me move up the Bucs season ticket waiting list any faster (I've been on there now for four years), but it'd be good for the team.

Would the Bears and Bucs picking the same position affect the early part of the draft? You'd better believe it! That is why Minnesota is contemplating trading up to #3; the Vikings don't want to be left out of the WR race and be stuck making a reach pick for Troy Williamson at the #7 spot.
