This isn't a mailbag entry per se, but I found this in doing a search on Yahoo! with a fun search called linkdomain. You type linkdomain:draftking.com (or whatever site) into the Yahoo! search and it shows you what sites link to that site. Not even Google has that (though they probably will soon, knowing how Google is cutting edge in almost everything). For some reason Yahoo! doesn't publicize it, but it's a nice feature to use if you know about it. And... now you do.

Anyway, I found this post from a message board that will go unnamed.

I almost vomited on my laptop...

Cripes. Mock Drafts are f***ing irritating.

The Niners will NOT draft Alex Smith!!!! He brings nothing they don't already have! They need a WR!

Its already a known fact that if we take a QB, its going to be Rodgers...they may as well just come out and say it.

ah well

BTW...who the f*** is Troy Williamson????

Lou: You've gotta love the internet. It's a nearly endless source of information. The trick, of course, is discerning fact from fiction and opinion.

Incidentally, I have no problem with people busting my balls about my picks or disagreeing with my selections. I've said for years that people who know their favorite team well are far more likely to have a read on who that team might take better than me, as I try to follow 32 teams and all of the various prospects out there. It's just funny to me to read after the fact when people are rabid that something WILL NOT HAPPEN (often typed in all caps, to indicate yelling)... and then it happens.

One important thing to keep in mind with the picks and predictions: these are not things that I think necessarily *should* happen or that I want to happen per se. Well, for karma's sake, Washington deserves to have Denver get a high pick with that team trading its 2006 first round pick to get Denver's 2005 first rounder... and then taking Jason Campbell. No disrespect to Campbell, but the move was baffling, both in foresight and so far in hindsight. I'll miss the traffic from the Hail Redskins site this year (that site is one of my favorites), unless Washington manages to acquire another first round pick, but so it goes.

A lesson for me is that I wish I would've stuck with my guns on the Williamson-to-Minnesota prediction that I made one month out but then flipped on when Shawne Merriman's stock shot through the roof. Live and learn, I suppose.
