Pretty sure Jonathon Scott not a 1st or 2nd rounder as his stock is way down, you might want to take him off 1st round list for sure.ALSO, the busts in this draft will be JAY CUTLER AND STEVEN JACKSON .The cowboys might take Manny Lawson but trading down might not be a option as NEW ENGLAND AND SAN DIEGO LOOKING FOR LINEBACKERS TOO.Cowboys first pick will be a hybrid type CARPENTER, LAWSON OR WIMBLEY.Would not be surprised if Ryan o Callaghan is drafted by dallas in 2nd or 3rd round

STEALS IN DRAFT : D QWELL JACKSON AND DEUCE LITISI ,RYAN O CALLAGHAN

Lou: Maybe I've been holding onto the past too much with Jonathan Scott. I think he'll be a solid NFL player, but as always, it's not about what I think, but instead what NFL GMs and coaches think. I did move him down in my most recent update, for whatever that's worth. But I've seen some lists that still have him in the top five for offensive linemen, so I'm not sure that he's fallen too terribly far.

As for the busts, time will tell for Jay Cutler. I'm not sure what you mean about Steven Jackson -- is there an obscure player with that name who I am overlooking? Do you mean WR Chad Jackson? QB Tarvaris Jackson? Or do you mean Rams RB Steven Jackson will turn into a bust in his third season in the league?

I agree about D'Qwell Jackson being a potential major steal. If it weren't for the Colts having such a huge RB need, he'd be a perfect fit for them at #30. Actually, if the right RB isn't on the board there (assuming the Colts don't trade up), it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Colts drafted him. Yes, Indianapolis signed Cato June to a one-year restricted free agent deal, but Jackson would allow Indy to avoid having to pay big bucks to keep June next off-season. As it is, whatever team gets him will be getting a very nice playmaker. I enjoyed watching Maryland games last season and keeping an eye on him when the Terps were on defense. The guy found a way to get to the ball-carrier (and he could deliver a hit.) If not for D'Brickashaw Ferguson, he'd be my favorite guy in the draft who name begins with D'. He'll have to settle for being my favorite ILB.

Speaking of Ferguson, it's been funny to hear Howard Stern talk about him (and his name) on his show on Sirius Satellite Radio this week. I caught tons of heat from friends who are Titans fans back home who didn't care for me projecting Tennessee taking him way back when (before Tennessee snuck into the #3 pick spot.) Now they give me respect for it.

As for Bobby Carpenter, I had been down on him in a 3-4 system... but the more I read about him, and his speed (which I had unfairly discounted), the more it does seem like a possibility that Dallas might pull the trigger on him. I do take the input I receive here under advisement, and the pro-Carpenter e-mails (especially in relation to the Cowboys) have not gone unnoticed.

Taitusi "Deuce" Lutui is an interesting player who will be a nice pick in the second round. He's gone from ridiculously big to NFL calibre big. As an offensive guard, he won't garner first round attention, but for a team looking to bolster its interior offensive line, he certainly has experience opening holes for some very successful running backs (as well as protecting Matt Leinart) in 2005. He struggled as a tackle, but offensive guard seems to be the spot for him. There is some risk in drafting him, since he only had one great year at USC, but he did look very impressive this past season. If he can keep his weight under control, he could turn out to be a solid pro.

Subject: Cowboys 1st round pick

Just wanted to help you out with the Cowboys' first round pick in your mock draft. It is NOT going to be FS Donte' Whitner. The Cowboys signed Marcus Coleman to start there. He's not a world beater, no, but the Cowboys also gave Keith Davis a 2 year 3 mill. contract. That's 2 FS's the Cowboys are counting on. The Cowboys are also high on last years rookie(6th round?) Justin Beriault. That's 3 FS's. The Cowboys may not keep 3 of them either.

The Cowboys are going to draft an OLB in the first round unless Cutler slips and then look for fireworks between Parcells and Jones LOL.

The Cowboys signed Akin Ayodele but he'll probably take Dat Nguyens(retired) ILB spot. The Cowboys are not sure about Burnett yet and Singleton is a little injury prone. I think the Cowboys are looking at

LB 1st RD ROOKIE - Singleton
LB B. James - Schanle
LB A. Ayodele - K. Thornton - R. Boiman
LB D. Ware - K. Burnett

I think most mocks have Manny Lawson launching up into the first round. He's 6'6 around 250. He has the size Parcells loves. He runs a 4.43 40 so he has the speed Jerry loves.

Whatever you do, don't make the mistake like some mocks and say we're going to take an O-Lineman. That's not happening either. Unless someone really good slips really far, it's going to be an OLB.

How could you have the Eagles passing on WR Chad Jackson? I can't see that happening either.

The Rams taking a DT? They have Jimmy Kennedy and La'roi Glover now.

Lou: Two things with Marcus Coleman: one, his deal was just for one year, and two, he provides a veteran force that Dallas can use this year... and then replace with someone from this draft in 2007.

Of course, Dallas could go OLB in the first round and then FS in round two. I am finally coming around on Bobby Carpenter and Dallas being a potential match (just yesterday I thought it wouldn't work... but those Cowboys fans are persistant, particularly when you have strong arguments in their favor.)

I have Philly passing on Chad Jackson AND Santonio Holmes. The team is already very young at WR, and even the signing of free agent Jabar Gaffney didn't do much to change that situation. But more youth doesn't seem to be the answer there. I expect the Eagles to instead address their WR situation in the free agent market after the draft, perhaps signing a veteran to bring some experience on board.

As for St. Louis, Jimmy Kennedy has been a disappointment so far, and La'Roi Glover turns 32 this year. The team could use a CB, but who would they take at #11? Tye Hill? Jimmy Williams? They're stuck in no-man's land, which is why there has been scuttle about trying to move up. But thus far, it's been all talk for the Rams.

Subject: Lions in the draft.

I know this is a long shot, but as a lions fan (yeah...I know) I would much rather see the team trade down, pick up an extra pick, and use their first rounder on Antonio Cromartie. I know the history, but a cb with 4.3 speed and a 6"3 frame seems like a prototype of exactly what nfl clubs are looking for. Everyone says its Huff, but I have this suspicision that Cromartie will be better in the pros.

Lou: Your idea would require the right team wanting to move up, likely to take Jay Cutler (perhaps Baltimore from the #13 spot?), and in reality the Lions could keep shifting down toward the late teens and still be all but assured of having a good shot at getting Cromartie. The injury is what is keeping him from being right up there with Huff; before he got hurt, he was really something special at Florida State. And, with him now having the green light from doctors, it appears that Cromartie has recovered from those injuries and will be able to make a successful transition into the pros.
