Subject: 2007 mock draft mistake

When forming your 2007 NFL mock drafts don't forget to make a note at the bottom (similar to the Denver/Washington potential swap) that the New England Patriots acquired the Seattle Seahawks first round pick in the trade for Dion Branch. That means probably two low first round picks for New England, which I predict they use one on a LB like Patrick Willis and the other on the best available athlete at S, DT, or OL, respectively.

Lou: Good point about the Deion Branch trade. Unlike the Denver/Washington deal, this deal is set, so the Patriots (barring another trade) will have two first round picks in the next draft. And at this point, I'd strongly agree that New England would be well-served to look at safety, defensive tackle and offensive line with those two picks. But by the same token, multiple first-rounders could be used to move up to select a major playmaker like Ted Ginn, Jr. The Patriots will have several options come draft day '07.
