Hi Lou,

Two questions. First, why do all the mock drafts I see have the Ravens drafting so low? I know they had a 13-3 record during the regular season, but doesn't the draft position for playoff teams have to do with when they are knocked out?

Second, I would love to see Ginn Jr. drop to the Eagles, he would be a nice replacement for Donte' Stallworth, who it seems as though will leave Philly via FA. If Ginn does go before they pick, how does a Meachem or Bowe stack up for a west coast offense? Also, with the Eagles always seeming to try and address their LB problems in the 2nd round, what are some names worth kicking around at that point?

Lou: The NFL Draft order goes by regular season record, tiebreaking first on advancement in the playoffs (if applicable) and then strength of schedule before going to a coin flip. The only exception are the two Super Bowl teams, which pick 31 (the loser) and 32 (the winner.) New England picks in front of Baltimore based on the Patriots being 12-4 and the Ravens being 13-3; because they had different regular season records, New England's advancement in the playoffs relative to Baltimore was immaterial.

It could have been worse -- had San Diego gone to the Super Bowl, Baltimore would have been one spot further down, as the Colts would have picked before them.

Donte Stallworth entering free agency doesn't mean for sure that the Eagles won't keep him, though the Eagles actually have disincentive to keep him, as the conditional fourth rounder that they are sending to New Orleans becomes a third rounder if Philly re-signs him.

Ted Ginn, Jr. is a fascinating X-Factor to the draft. His size remains a concern, but there's no doubting his world-class speed. If Stallworth comes back

Don't be surprised if Dwayne Bowe moves into the first round of my board soon. At 6'2" 225 and running a 4.5 40, he should be an excellent pickup for Philadelphia... or whichever team ends up with him. Bowe is reported to be having a strong week at the Senior Bowl (Scott Wright has some great info on that over at NFL Draft Countdown), so we'll see how things progress for him. If he falls out of round one and the Raiders don't draft Calvin Johnson #1 overall, Bowe could potentially end up in Oakland.

As for round 2 LBs, if guys like OU's Rufus Alexander, Florida's Earl Everett, and Michigan's Prescott Burgess fall, they could be good value picks in the early-mid round two. There should be good value at LB going into the third and fourth round, if not deeper, so Philly could opt to wait and take a guy like USC's Dallas Sartz or Alabama's Juwan Simpson and be alright.

I was reading your most recent mailbag (1/24/07) where you talked about Marshawn Lynch and Michael Bush, and who should be picked as the second running back after Adrian Peterson. A thing that caught my eye was when you were talking about Lynch you said he was 195 lbs., when he is probably 220 or above. I played against him in high school in the Oakland Athletic League, and he was probably 195 as a senior at Oakland Tech. Lynch runs like a straight beast, with a great combo of speed and power.

It was just something small that caught my eye and I saw you enjoyed feedback. My dad would like to see Marshawn to the Jets at #26, but that's just because he is a huge Jets fan.

Lou: I'm not sure how the 195 got in there instead of 220 (I've since corrected it), but you're right that Marshawn Lynch is in the 200+ pound club. I've reversed my last shift and once again project Lynch to the Packers, since it would make more sense for an RB like Lynch to go to the Packers and for a big guy like Bush to go to the Jets, not have to take the entire RB load, and compliment the smaller, quick Leon Washington quite nicely.
