Subject: Dolphins Addressing DT Position in 2007 Draft

Just read your Nov 5 mock, and you state that the Dolphins choose Dorsey, DT, after not adressing the DT position in the draft, opting to choose Ginn instead of Amobi Okoye.

The dolphins chose Paul Soliai DT out of Utah. This doesn't preclude them passing on Dorsey, as they don't know what they have in Soliai, who has shown glimpses of being good, but nothing overwhelming. Also of note, some thought that Soliai in the 4th was a good value or a steal. Not sure if true, but that was the thinking at the time of the draft.

Jake Long may make sense here though. Miami's oline has been brigh spot, and coaches have told Carey he won't be moved again, so not sure bout using the #1 pick for a RT in Long.

Lou: I don't think that Paul Soliai is going to suffice for the Dolphins and their defensive tackle needs. Miami will need to evaluate both Soliai and second-year man Rodrique Wright, but the chance to bring in Dorsey, who could immediately make a huge difference in stopping the run, seems to me to be too much to pass up.

In my estimation, with Vernon Carey being one of the few bright spots for the Dolphins in his first year playing left offensive tackle, taking Jake Long over Dorsey would be a mistake.

The question for the Dolphins may be: what will they do if they end up winning a few games down the stretch and Glenn Dorsey is off the board when they pick? It's doubtful that the Rams would take Dorsey, since they used a first rounder on Nebraska DE Adam Carriker in the past draft and turned him into a DT. But in the event that Dorsey isn't available, who knows what the Dolphins may end up deciding to do.

But, at this point, I remain convinced that if Dorsey is on the board when their pick comes up, the Dolphins will draft him.
