Draft King Analysis

February 23, 2008
Lou Pickney,

Tonight I was invited to take part in a dueling mock draft on with show host Sunstroke Stevens. To listen to the broadcast, you can do so here -- my audio is a bit louder than the hosts, so it should be easy enough to pick me out, if that's something of interest:

We broke the record for the longest show in the history of the program. For the record, here is how the dueling mock played out.

SS = Sunstroke Stevens

LP- 6. Jets: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
SS- 7. Patriots: Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy
LP- 8. Ravens: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
SS- 9. Bengals: Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State

LP- 24. Titans: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
SS- 25. Seahawks: Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon
LP- 26. Jaguars: Philip Merling, DE, Clemson
SS- 27. Chargers: Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma
LP- 28. Cowboys: DeSean Jackson, WR/KR, Cal
SS- 29. 49ers: Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
LP- 30. Packers: Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
SS- 31. Giants: Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
LP- 32. Dolphins: Dan Connor, LB, Penn State

This was a fun exercise, and it shows how a talented player like Dan Connor could slip out of the first round. The only pick that felt a bit odd to me was matching Michigan QB Chad Henne with Chicago at #14. But Henne's stock has been on the rise, and we'll see how Henne does tomorrow at the combine.
